The HG-1 has been evolving since 2012. With the HG-1 Prime, we’re building on more than a decade of experience, refining the details and taking the time to get them right. We’re proud of how far it’s come, and we’re happy to introduce the newest version to the world. 

At the heart of the HG-1 Prime is a robust 83mm burr set. Around them, we’ve refined the components you see, touch, and use every day.

  • Custom 83mm TiN-coated conical burrs. Developed specifically for the HG-1 Prime.
  • Redesigned skeleton flywheel. A refined interpretation of the HG-1’s distinctive mechanical design.
  • Stainless steel mounting puck. Provides a stable grinding platform while allowing the grinder to be easily removed or repositioned.
  • Split Ring magnetic Bean Hopper. Held together by magnets for easy separation, cleaning, or switching between grinding workflows.
  • Wood Base Matte and matching Funnel Cover. A thoughtful combination of natural materials and precision-machined components.
  • All-stainless-steel hardware. Selected for durability, longevity, and ease of maintenance.

Every change has a purpose. Nothing has been added simply for the sake of adding it.

Make It Yours

The HG-1 Prime is available in two finishes.

Panda combines silver and black in our signature two-tone design.

Obsidian takes a more understated approach, finished entirely in black.

Every Prime includes a wood base mat, matching funnel cover, and our Espresso grinding funnel.

For those who want something more personal, we’ve developed a range of interchangeable components and accessories.

The base mat and funnel cover are also available in brass and copper, offering a different visual character and materials that will develop their own patina over time.

Our interchangeable Bean Hoppers include the standard Espresso, along with higher-capacity Wide Mouth and Venetian versions for larger doses and pour-over preparation.

For grounds redistribution, choose from our Blind Tumbler or Espresso Shaker Funnels I or II.

The result is a grinder that can be tailored to the way you make coffee without compromising the simplicity of the original design.

The HG-1 Prime is a mechanical object designed to be seen, touched, and used every day.

Its construction reflects a belief that well-made products should be maintained rather than replaced. Precision-machined components, stainless steel hardware, and carefully selected materials come together in a grinder designed for a lifetime of service.

There are no motors, electronics, or unnecessary complications. Just a thoughtfully engineered mechanism doing exactly what it was designed to do. More than a decade after the first HG-1, we’re still refining the same idea.
