Easy to Clean

Making coffee can be a process, a routine, or a ceremony. Measuring the beans, tamping the grind, steaming the milk are all central to the experience.

Part of preserving that experience is remaining connected to our food. Eggs come from chickens, milk comes from cows, and the best coffee comes from freshly ground beans–not from weeks old, pre-ground coffee, vacuum sealed in plastic pods. We feel that making coffee isn’t about convenience, it’s about quality. Inevitably, making coffee can get a little messy. And eventually we have to clean everything up.

We’ve made that part easier.

When cleaning a coffee grinder it usually requires getting the toolbox out. You have to dismantle the machine in order to access all of the the nooks and crannies where coffee grounds can hide. Chores like this are usually reserved for the weekend when you put aside a block of time. As a result, cleaning isn’t something you do every day, but rather when you can find the time or inclination. This results in coffee grounds trapped inside the grinder growing stale and rancid, affecting every shot you pull.

The HG-1 Prime was designed from the beginning with simplicity and ease of maintenance in mind. Our latest improvements take that philosophy even further.

The new Split Ring Bean Hopper separates into two halves and lifts away, providing unobstructed access to the top of our custom 83mm conical burr set. A few quick strokes with a brush are all it takes to remove stray coffee grounds.

Below, the Lower Funnel is held securely in place by 12 powerful rare-earth magnets. A simple twist of the wrist releases it, exposing the underside of the burr assembly for equally effortless cleaning.

No screwdrivers, no complicated disassembly, and no wondering how everything fits back together afterward. Routine cleaning takes seconds rather than minutes, making it easy to keep your grinder clean as part of your daily coffee ritual. And with all that time saved, you might even make yourself another cup.

We believe that anything designed to come into contact with food should be easy to clean. It’s not just a matter of convenience. It’s about thoughtful design, quality, and, most importantly, safety.
